India has had a significant role to play in South Asia, in interacting with fellow members vis a vis Art and the worldview guiding the cultural scenario of the region. The SAARC nations have emerged as vital partners in their contribution to the emergence of a modernist viewpoint, depicting the changing the changing face of the region, both in convergence and divergence with tradition, as it is constantly reinterpreted within the contemporary dialectics.

Art, as always, reflects this dialectic in a unique manner, but has not often been looked at as the canvas that reveals the concerns and values of the South Asian nations. Habiart Foundation, in association with the India Council for Cultural Relations has initiated an important dialogue through a seminar to understand how these modern interpretations converge or are in conflict with their traditional content or style, and how each persona within the region has evolved to face the challenge of changing equations.
